Boston Language Institute:
The Boston Language Institute is located close to the center of Boston, in Kenmore Square, near Boston's elegant Back Bay neighborhood, and next to public transportation. In 4 weeks, The Boston Language Institute trains both native and non-native English speakers to teach English in the US or abroad, with an international TEFL/TESL Certificate course. Students can avail of full and part-time study options.
Full-time & Part-time TEFL Certificate Program:
Our internationally acclaimed TEFL Certificate Program is available as a 4-week intensive course or a 12-week, Saturday part-time course. In both our full-time and part-time programs, we make available special units for non-native students.
Our EFL/ESL teacher training program is based on an active learning approach, giving our TEFL trainees extensive opportunity to practice what they study.
In our program, you will participate in classes where your trainers model the teaching techniques to be mastered. You will then undertake skill-building activities, both individually and in small groups.
You also lead your own ESL practice teaching classes for a minimum of six hours, receiving guidance and feedback from our experienced teacher trainers.
Course Content:
- Learn to plan and teach your lessons using the Communicative Approach. Skills covered include teaching reading, listening, speaking and writing;
- Develop the ability to create your own materials that introduce and integrate these skills in a lively, enjoyable and productive format;
- Review English grammar and learn how to create dynamic, effective grammar lessons;
- Learn how to teach populations with specialized needs, such as business people;
- Develop classroom management skills;
- Increase your ability to work in cross-cultural settings;
- Learn to find and evaluate English teaching jobs overseas and in the United States, to present yourself through your resume and cover letter, tackle interviews, and much more.
TEFL Certificate Program for Non-native Speakers of English
The Boston Language Institute is proud to have pioneered a special Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate program designed for non-native speakers of English.
In addition to all the components of our traditional TEFL course, this course includes special training in grammar and pronunciation.
The TEFL Certificate Program is appropriate for individuals with no previous teaching experience or training, as well as for experienced teachers who wish to enhance their mastery of TEFL methodology and increase their repertoire of classroom activities.
Admission requires an advanced level in English, although it is not necessary to have native ability.
