The Harris School, Houston:
Conveniently located in downtown Houston TX, The Harris School offers a specialized curriculum for at-risk children from Preschool through Grade 8 who are typically average to above average intellectually, are not functioning at their full potential due to underlying social or emotional difficulties, and have needs that are not being met in a traditional school setting. Our program is designed for children who are experiencing anxiety or depression, have suffered trauma, or those diagnosed with ADHD, PDD, SID, ODD, Bipolar Disorder, Tourette Syndrome or Asperger’s Disorder.

Our Curriculum:
The Harris School provides a comprehensive curriculum of intellectual, aesthetic, and physical activities that further the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of students. Our beliefs incorporate both the academic and social/emotional growth of each child, regardless of their diagnosis, trauma, or special need.
The lessons for each child are based on the Texas Essential Elements of Knowledge and Skills. Opportunities for enrichment and socialization accompany The Harris School curriculum. This includes: P.E., karate, art, music therapy and social skills.

The staff understands that each student comes to the school at different levels of development and each student needs an individualized plan in order to grow. They continuously balance the academic and the emotional needs of the student, using a therapeutic approach to achieve academic growth.
