HECTOR School of Engineering and Management, Karlsruhe:
Welcome to the HECTOR School of Engineering and Management. The School named after Dr. h.c. Hans-Werner HECTOR, the co-founder of the software company SAP – is run in cooperation with four University Departments and the International Department of the Universität Karlsruhe (TH). We are located at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) in Karlsruhe, Southwest Germany. Five different Executive Master Programs in Engineering and Business Administration/Finance are offered at the HECTOR School of Engineering and Management. Founded in September 2004 the HECTOR School can be best described as innovative preparatory training for young professionals to assume extended responsibilities in general management. The program combines a solid base in business administration and management with specialized and cutting-edge methodology in engineering in the context of mechanical engineering, product development, operations, financial engineering, information engineering and electrical engineering technology.

Executive Master Programs in

Program Structure:
• 10 x 2-week long modules split up over the duration of 18 months (incl. Master Thesis), when students are required to be present at the HECTORTechnical Colleges / Institutes School
• Each program consists of 5 Management Modules and 5 Modules in the Engineering subject
• Master Thesis as a project work in the participant´s company
• Total program duration: 1 1/2 years
• Course Language: English

The structure of all 5 programs is similar. 10 modules are divided into 5 engineering and 5 management modules. The business administration and management modules common for all programs and provide specific target qualifications, such as Accounting, Finance and Marketing, International Project Management, Human Resources or International Law. In the engineering specification of each program, the HECTOR School offers outstanding courses e.g. with state of the art knowledge in Production Technology, Supply Chain Management or Systems Engineering. The courses cover research orientated engineering methodology as well as application orientated know-how which is an indispensable asset for future manager to successfully run modern production facilities.

The HECTOR School programs for young professionals yield a further competitive advantage, which allow finding specific solutions and space for corporate personnel development. Successful managers need a profound understanding of both technological intricacies and their implementation within the added value network. Young professionals trained both as businessmen and as engineers are particularly destined to assume leadership positions in the global economy, due to their demanding and superior education and resulting know-how. Our Programs are therefore more than typical MBA programs. The primary goal is to enable young professionals to take a holistic approach when managing highly interdependent processes. Therefore all programs base on 5 Management Modules where the students are provided on the one hand with basic knowledge in Finance, Accounting, Marketing and Law so they can consider commercial consequences of business decisions.

The engineering emphasis of each program is laid in 5 additonal Modules adapted to each specialization:

Master in Production and Operations Management (POM):
The program Production and Operations Management is targeting future factory managers. Beside the above mentioned management skills the program focuses on the application of the state of the art in production technology and production engineering combined with the newest approaches of supply chain management.

Master in Management of Product Development (MPD)
:
Management of Product Development offers an integrated approach towards efficient product development using virtual engineering processes in order to design highly utilized machine elements and systems.

Master in Information Engineering (IE):
Information Engineering is an innovative interdisciplinary field that plays a crucial role in the context of our modern networked information society. IE provides methods and tools to support the whole information supply chain in enterprises. It prepares for a challenging career in the telecommunication sector,Technical Colleges / Institutes in the information departments of financial institutes or e.g. as a consultant in the field of e-business.

Master in Financial Engineering (FE):
Financial Engineering provides innovative solutions for pricing, hedging, trading and portfolio management problems by employing advanced mathematical methods and computer technology. By this highly interdisciplinary program the HECTOR School answers to the needs of financial companies as well as investment or commercial banks but also companies with a strong corporate finance department.

Master in Embedded Systems Engineering (ICST):
The Master Program "ESE - Embedded Systems Engineering" is geared to industrial processes and methods of embedded electronic systems and shows in an interdisciplinary concept its economic consequences. The program prepares participants for the adoption of on-going tasks, such as development and management of innovation and production processes. To that effect, the curriculum is comprised of technical, organziational and economic subjects and furthermore it provides a deep insight into new methods of product development, new materials and technologies and applications of embedded systems for wireless and optical communication, signal processing and integration systems.
