Sotheby's Institute Of Art:
Located at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore, Sotheby's Institute of Art provides programs are designed to prepare students for a career in the international art world. Our degrees are awarded by the University of Manchester in the UK and combine professional training with academic study. The Institute also works with students to help them find internships at Sotheby's auction house or in galleries and art institutions. Sessions on career opportunities are an integral part of the curriculum and include exposure and introductions to the vast array of professionals in the art world who share profiles on their careers.

Master Degrees

Art Business
The Master of Arts Degree in Art Business offered by Sotheby’s Institute of Art – Singapore prepares students for careers in the commercial art world, with a particular emphasis on working in Asia and with Asian art. The curriculum is designed for students who already have an art background and want to understand business theories and practices, or those with a business background with a strong interest to enter the art industry. The programme is not a business degree but a degree in the business of art, and its unique perspectives.

Contemporary Art
The Master of Arts Degree in Contemporary Art programme offered at Sotheby’s Institute of Art – Singapore is distinctive in its focus on contemporary Asian art. In addition to learning about the development of contemporary art in Europe and North America, a major lecture module is ‘Contemporary Art in Asia’ during the first Semester, when students learn about the development of contemporary art in various parts of Asia, including East Asia (China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan), South Asia (India and Pakistan), Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines), Central Asia and Australia.

Semester Programme

Contemporary Art
Sotheby’s Institute of Art – Singapore offers a full-time fifteen-week course in Contemporary Art. Designed for students who have a strong vocational or professional interest in a specific subject, the courses can also provides the necessary foundation for students who lack an art history background and are applying to the Postgraduate Diploma and Masters programmes at the Institute. Essentially the first semester of the full-time Masters programme, students are taught alongside our full-time Masters students and will get to visit China (Beijing and Shanghai) as part of the course. 

Short Courses
Sotheby's Institute of Art - Singapore offers a number of short courses throughout the year. These courses will be held in conjunction with the Master's degree programme in Art Business, and participants will be taught alongside our full-time international students. This allows for a much greater exchange of knowledge and experience than the more traditional short courses.  Available short courses include:

Travel Programs
Each year, Sotheby's Institute of Art - Singapore organises a number of overseas trips to major art centres, exhibitions, museums and collections in Asia. These visits are held in conjunction with the Master's degree programmes in Art Business and Contemporary Art, and participants are taught alongside our full-time international students.

Art Fair Courses
Aligned with the Singapore Biennale, one of the most exciting art events in Asia, and the debut Showcase: Singapore, a premium boutique art fair that features top galleries from Asia, Europe and America, this three-day intensive educational course will feature special lectures, panel discussions, and guided visits to the Biennale and Fair by Institute faculty, experts in the field, gallery directors, dealers and leading institutions.
