The English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) at the University of Sheffield in the north of England offers a wide range of accredited English language teacher training courses in addition to our general English courses. Teacher training and development form an important part of the Centre, and each year we offer a range of TEFL / TESOL-based programmes, including full-time and part-time CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) and DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults) courses among others.

Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA):
The Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) is an initial qualification for people with little or no previous English teaching experience and is awarded by Cambridge ESOL, part the University of Cambridge. You may be considering a career in English Language teaching and view CELTA as an entry into a good teaching position in another country, or you may want a qualification that provides a sound basis in the fundamentals of language teaching practice and gives you the confidence to take control in the classroom.

What is PTLLS (ESOL)?
PTLLS (ESOL) is a 6-credit award designed to provide teachers with initial preparation to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Our PTLLS (ESOL) award is accredited by the OCR exam board. The PTLLS (ESOL) programme at the ELTC aims to give trainees a good base from which to progress on to further qualifications, volunteer or gain initial employment in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

St Brelade's College, Jersey

• St Brelade’s College is located on the British island of Jersey in the Channel Islands, approximately 20 miles off the French coast and 80 miles south of England. • We are accredited by the British Council and are a member of English UK, along with being a validated course provider of the Trinity College London Cert. StudyCELTA provides internationally-recognised and accredited University of Cambridge English language teacher training courses in the lively city of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in north-east England. We offer full-time CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) Delta course modules, as well as Erasmus Plus CLIL courses.
Our full-time CELTA courses are available all year round and are 4 weeks long. It is an introduction to the teaching of English as a foreign language, and aims to lay a firm foundation on which a teacher can build as s/he gains experience.
