StudyCELTA offers the internationally-recognised and accredited Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) and Delta (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults) at our partner school in Bournemouth in Dorset on the south-west coast of England. Our courses are open to students from around the world. Bournemouth is approximately 150km from London. There are international airports in Bournemouth and in the city of Southampton which is a 35 minute drive away.

Our partner school is accredited by Cambridge University ESOL and the British Council and is a member of English UK. Currently, it is the only Bournemouth school with membership of Quality English, the organisation of Britain's leading independent language schools.

CELTA / Delta Training Centre in Bournemouth:
The teacher training centre in Bournemouth was founded in 1984, with just three students! Since then, it has grown rapidly in size and reputation and now, hundreds of students pass through the school each year. Importantly, it is a family-run independent school.

The school building was originally a 19th century school and has great charm and character. Now modernised, the school is equipped with 15 classrooms, library and bookshop, 2 self-access centres with a total of 30 multi-media computers, internet and e-mail services, language laboratory units, WiFi, video facilities and canteen.

- Cambridge CELTA Certificate course (4-weeks): Offered all year round on a full time intensive basis. CELTA is an internationally recognised qualification and has British Council approval. It is the foundation qualification for employment in most recognised language schools.

CELTA is the best known and most widely taken initial 'TESOL / TEFL' qualification of its kind in the world. The aim of our CELTA course is to provide introductory training if you have little or no previous experience of teaching languages.

It may also be suitable if you have some experience, but little previous training. Although designed for native speakers of English, it is also open to non-native speakers who have native speaker competence in both spoken and written English.

- Cambridge Delta Diploma course (8 - 9 weeks): The full-time Delta course lasts just over eight weeks and is highly intensive. We arrange teaching practice at the centre. Candidates will sit the examination immediately following the course in either June or December.

The part-time Delta course is designed for candidates teaching in the Bournemouth, Dorset and Hampshire areas and is programmed over eight months on two evenings a week. Teaching practice and lesson observation take place at the candidate’s own school. Candidates will sit the examinations on completion of the first term in December.

Delta course aims:
The Delta course aims to offer candidates who have substantial experience of teaching English to adult speakers of other languages the opportunity to:

- deepen your understanding of the principles and practice of teaching the English language to adults;
- examine your current practices and beliefs;
- apply the results of your learning and reflection to your current teaching position and more senior roles.

The reputation of the school is largely attributed to the high quality of its staff. All the teachers and trainers are highly motivated specialists in the teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). All trainers have a degree, Cambridge Certificate (CELTA) and Cambridge Diploma (Delta). They also have additional qualifications such as business, academic English and young learner specialisations and most importantly teacher trainer accreditation. The school currently has six full time trainers and one part time member of staff. Some of the teachers are also examiners and assessors for Cambridge.

Many of the teachers and trainers have taught in other countries in a wide range of teaching situations. They continue to develop professionally by attending in-house training as well as workshops and conferences. By keeping up-to-date they can pass on the most modern and effective methodology to their trainees.
