Cambridge CELTA Course (4-weeks): CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is the best known and most widely taken initial 'TESOL / TEFL' qualification of its kind in the world. The aim of our CELTA course is to provide introductory training if you have little or no previous experience of teaching languages. It may also be suitable if you have some experience, but little previous training. Our courses are offered all year round and are full-time intensive courses.
Aims of the course:The CELTA course is highly practical in emphasis and will require a lot of hard work and commitment from you.
It is designed to enable you to:
- develop your language awareness - appreciate the cultural and individual needs of learners - become familiar with the principles and practice of effective English language teaching - develop basic skills for teaching adults - identify and exploit appropriate resources and materials - identify opportunities for future professional development
You will be kept fully informed of your progress and will have the opportunity to discuss your work in detail during your individual tutorials.
Assessment:The CELTA is awarded to those who pass each of the two assessed components of the course:
- Planning and teaching - Classroom-related written assignments
The assessment is validated by an external assessor, appointed by Cambridge, who visits the course to assess the general standard of the course work. There is no final practical or written examination. With your certificate we provide a written report, indicating your strengths and weaknesses, and certificates and reports are sent out approximately one month after the end of the course, when the results have been validated by Cambridge. CELTA Course Entry Requirements:- The recommended minimum age is 18.
- Applicants must have a standard of education which would allow entry to Higher Education.
- They must also have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to follow the course and have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become an effective teacher and to complete successfully the written assignments and the assessment of teaching practice.

Teaching practice and lesson observation take place at the candidate’s own school. Candidates will sit the examinations on completion of the first term in December.
Delta Course Content: The course combines theory and practice. It includes work on language systems; learning theories and their implication for teaching/learning; consideration of a range of methodologies and their practical application in the classroom; the principles of syllabus and course design; the evaluation of materials and aids; formal and informal assessment; error analysis and correction; and ways of extending learning beyond the classroom. Sessions take the form of seminars, lectures, workshops and tutorials.
